The Rudder is an iconic institution nestled between some of America’s oldest operating art galleries in the Rocky Neck neighborhood of Gloucester.

Initially founded by Evie Parsons, The Rudder has served as a local eatery and watering hole to all of Gloucester and beyond since 1957. Prior to opening as a restaurant, the space was a seafood distribution center, where fish were salted and packed into barrels for shipment.

Now with Barbara Lynch at the helm, The Rudder has transitioned from a blank canvas to a thoughtful masterpiece that combines Barbara’s love of food and her passion for the arts.
